China Unicom Proposes AI-Driven Broadband Value Leap at WBBA Conference in Shanghai
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On June 25, the 2026 WBBA Cloud-Network Broadband Development Conference (BDC) was held in Shanghai under the theme "Intelligent Leap: AI-Driven Cloud-Network Broadband Commercial Value Upgrade." Miao Shouye, Vice President of China Unicom, delivered a keynote speech titled "From Bandwidth Supremacy to Value Leadership: AI-Driven Broadband Value Leap," sharing the company's innovative practices in the broadband sector.
In his speech, Miao Shouye noted that over the past three decades of broadband development, networks have evolved from dial-up to 10G optical networks, achieving a hundredfold increase in bandwidth. The industry's development logic has shifted from "bandwidth supremacy" to "value leadership," with the core of industrial value transitioning from a single speed indicator to comprehensive assurance capabilities encompassing deterministic connectivity, accessible computing power, perceptible services, and trustworthy security.

Aligning with this development direction, China Unicom is driving broadband value leap across four major tracks: "connectivity, computing power, services, and security." In terms of connectivity, the company has innovatively developed the Broadband Network Core (BNC) and achieved large-scale commercial deployment, launching products such as "Mobile Private Network" and "Cloud Gaming" in Guangdong and Beijing. On the computing power front, China Unicom has fully undertaken the "East Data West Computing" project, enabling millisecond-level computing access via BNC, and innovatively introduced the "Agent+Token+AI Cloud" operation model for on-demand computing supply. In the service domain, China Unicom has upgraded omnichannel services through AI, creating application scenarios such as smart homes, smart parks, digital villages, and smart elderly care. In terms of security, China Unicom is the first operator in China to pass the highest-level DSMM evaluation, leveraging BNC's inherent security and the self-developed "Mogong" platform, complemented by a full-stack security toolkit, to comprehensively manage AI application risks.
Furthermore, China Unicom stated its willingness to collaborate with global industry partners to deepen efforts in the optical network field, improve unified standards, and build a thriving ecosystem, driving cloud-network broadband from "faster" to "more reliable, more trustworthy, and more intelligent."
