en.Wedoany.com Reported - Laso Transportes, a Portuguese special transport provider, has begun delivering wind turbine components to projects on the islands of Porto Santo and Madeira.

Three wind turbines will be installed in Madeira, with two more to be installed in Porto Santo. Laso is responsible for transporting a variety of large components, including nacelles, generators, tower sections, blades, and auxiliary equipment. Each blade weighs over 16 tons and measures 63 meters in length, while tower sections can weigh up to 58 tons.

Currently, Laso has transported the towers from the CS Wind production unit in Sever do Vouga to the port of Aveiro, from where they are shipped by sea to the islands. For this operation, Laso has deployed a specialized fleet, including blade lifters, super wing transporters, crane trucks, and modular equipment such as pipe transporters and landing platforms.

The remote nature of these two Portuguese islands further adds to the logistical complexity of this operation.

Earlier this week, HLPFI reported that Laso is transporting components for two offshore wind farm projects in France.
