en.Wedoany.com Reported - Anritsu and Qualcomm Technologies announced on June 29, 2026, that they have jointly completed the verification of the Uplink Data Compression (UDC) function in 5G NR SA (Standalone) mode. This function is defined based on the 3GPP Release 17 standard.

This verification covered the 3GPP RAN5 test items for UDC technology. UDC is a technology that compresses data sent from mobile terminals to the 5G network, reducing the amount of data transmitted over the network. This technology helps utilize limited frequency resources more efficiently and improves data transmission efficiency in real-world environments.

Unlike traditional uplink communication technologies such as Robust Header Compression (ROHC), which only compress IP headers and transport layer overhead, UDC can compress not only header information but also redundant parts of the entire transmitted data, thereby effectively reducing the total amount of uplink communication data.

During the collaborative verification process, both parties used Anritsu's 5G NR mobile test platform ME7834NR to evaluate the UDC function on mobile terminals equipped with the Qualcomm X105 5G Modem-RF System. The test items were based on 3GPP technical specification TS 38.523-1 and aligned with the core requirements of TS 38.323. Anritsu has submitted these test items to 3GPP RAN5.

Anritsu stated that through this collaboration, the company will support the conformance and interoperability verification of UDC technology, thereby promoting the commercialization of the UDC function compliant with the 3GPP Release 17 standard.
