This service leverages Starlink's low-orbit satellite constellation to provide direct connectivity to compatible mobile phones, allowing users to send text messages in areas where traditional cellular networks are unavailable. According to the operator, Starlink Mobile works on phones compatible with LTE technology without requiring additional user configuration, but devices need an unobstructed view of the sky to establish a satellite connection.

The activation of this technology aims to ensure basic communication channels while ground infrastructure remains affected by earthquake damage. Through this initiative, Movistar Venezuela has joined efforts to restore connectivity in areas impacted by the emergency by utilizing satellite communication capabilities directly to mobile devices.

Starlink announced last Thursday that it will provide one month of free service to all users in affected areas, with the benefit taking immediate effect and lasting until July 25, aimed at restoring communications for civilians and rescue operations.
