Oman's PWP Launches Tender for 1.5 GW Solar Project

en.Wedoany.com Reported - Oman's state-owned Power and Water Procurement Agency (PWP) has launched a tender for a solar project with a total installed capacity of 1.5 GW, comprising two independent power plants.

The specific tender projects are: the Adam Solar Independent Power Project (IPP), a solar power plant with an installed capacity of 1 GW equipped with a battery energy storage system; and the Sina Solar IPP, a 500 MW solar facility. According to information released by PWP, the Adam Solar IPP will be built on over 20 million square meters of land, with an estimated project cost of $746 million. The Sina Solar IPP will be built on over 5 million square meters of land, with a project cost of approximately $288 million.

This tender begins with the issuance of a Request for Qualifications (RFQ). Interested developers must submit their qualification statements by July 27. The deadline for purchasing tender documents is July 7, with a document fee of 350 Omani Rials (approximately $910.31).

Prior to this tender, PWP recently sought a consulting firm to support a 300 MW solar project (application deadline July 26) and issued a separate consulting tender involving a green hydrogen project.

According to data released by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), Oman's cumulative solar installed capacity reached 1,672 MW by the end of last year.
