en.Wedoany.com Reported - On June 30, two 174,000 cubic meter large liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers were delivered on the same day. Both vessels were built by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation. Each vessel has a total length of 299 meters, with a deck area equivalent to three standard football fields, capable of transporting 174,000 cubic meters of LNG per voyage. Compared to traditional fuel-powered vessels, daily carbon emissions are reduced by approximately 10 tons.
According to reports, these two 174,000 cubic meter LNG carriers adopt the fifth-generation "Changheng Series" vessel design independently developed by Hudong-Zhonghua. They are equipped with the world's latest generation dual-fuel low-speed propulsion power system, adaptable to various operational scenarios. After gasification, the cargo capacity of a single vessel can meet the monthly gas demand of approximately 3.3 million households. In terms of exhaust treatment, the vessels are equipped with selective catalytic reduction devices, meeting the most stringent emission standards of the International Maritime Organization.
Currently, Hudong-Zhonghua holds orders for nearly 60 LNG carriers, accounting for over 20% of the global market share, with the order schedule extending beyond 2031. China's share of the global LNG carrier market has exceeded 30%. The delivery time of the two vessels aligns with the timeline of the news report, with relevant data sourced from publicly available industry reports.
