US-based Ribbon Communications Launches AIOps Solution to Help Operators Achieve Autonomous Networks
en.Wedoany.com Reported - Ribbon Communications is offering Artificial Intelligence for IT Operations (AIOps) and automation solutions through platforms such as Acumen, aiming to unify the operations of voice and data networks and achieve end-to-end observability from Layer 0 to Layer 7. The company positions itself at the forefront of the telecommunications industry's evolution towards autonomous networks, helping operators address increasingly complex network environments and the growing demands driven by new AI-powered services. Ribbon's product strategy integrates cloud-native voice deployments to simplify operations, enhance security, and reduce costs.
Ram Ramanathan, Vice President of Product Management at Ribbon Communications, noted in an interview that as operators transition to all-IP and next-generation networks, the company's product portfolio has expanded from traditional border control (such as Session Border Controllers, SBCs) to include integrated cloud-native SBCs, policy and routing, centralized management, analytics, and public IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) voice cores. This architectural shift towards microservices and Kubernetes-based deployments supports flexible deployment in private, public, and hybrid cloud environments, enabling operators to modernize voice services without requiring a complete overhaul. For example, Optimum is deploying the Acumen platform to support AIOps, automation, and analytics, enhancing visibility and performance across its multi-vendor network.
In the competitive landscape of core network software, Ribbon differentiates itself through a combination of cloud-native voice infrastructure, automation, and migration expertise. The company focuses on providing vendor-lock-in-free cloud-native modernization, carrier-grade scale and security, and practical migration paths from legacy environments. Its voice stack encompasses SBC, IMS, policy and routing, management, and analytics, complemented by extensive migration experience. In the CPaaS (Communications Platform as a Service) space, Ribbon focuses on providing underlying secure, carrier-grade communication infrastructure rather than competing directly as a CPaaS platform, thereby serving enterprises, service providers, and emerging AI-driven voice applications.

In terms of voice network security, Ribbon's combined solutions go beyond basic compliance requirements such as STIR/SHAKEN. Through the Ribbon Call Trust solution, which incorporates reputation scoring, and by leveraging analytics and automation platforms, the company aims to enhance caller authentication, improve fraud detection, and reduce silos between network security and network operations. Regarding the challenges of migrating from legacy TDM/ISUP to all-IP SIP networks, Ribbon states that its low-risk migration path maintains service continuity by combining product breadth with service depth. Ribbon's professional services team has migrated over 55 million TDM ports globally, involving more than 30 switching technologies, and has converted or consolidated thousands of offices. Automation tools such as LEAP, Analytics, and RAMP support testing, monitoring, and lifecycle management throughout the transformation process. In one large-scale modernization project, the company assisted in migrating over 60,000 users to a SIP-based architecture within a single weekend without service interruption.
In the 5G era, Ribbon supports a common voice core for multi-generational services through its IMS portfolio and provides routing, transport, security, and automation capabilities to address private network opportunities for enterprises. Looking ahead, Ribbon's primary focus is on AI-driven automation and secure AI voice infrastructure. The company is leveraging artificial intelligence, observability, and automation to simplify deployments, enhance operations, and support new AI-driven communication workloads. This has expanded to enterprise use cases, such as supporting secure real-time communication infrastructure for AI-driven platforms like Salesforce's Agentforce contact center.
