en.Wedoany.com Reported - Open-access infrastructure provider Intrepid Fiber Networks has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Ubiquity's fiber network in Southern California.

Upon completion of the transaction, Intrepid will gain 35,000 fiber passings in the communities of Solana Beach, Encinitas, Carlsbad, and Oceanside in San Diego County. The company is currently conducting active fiber construction in Corona, Riverside, Vista, and San Marcos. This brings Intrepid's total residential and business passings in the region to over 100,000. Intrepid is a portfolio company of Brookfield Infrastructure.

The transaction is expected to close later this year, with specific details not disclosed. Ubiquity's network employees in Southern California will transition to Intrepid.

Intrepid CEO Jack Waters stated that this deal accelerates the company's California strategy and is a natural complement to the ongoing construction in the state. The company is adding a well-designed and operational network with an existing customer base, solid municipal relationships, and a proven open-access deployment, all within markets familiar to the team. Waters noted that the goal thereafter is to integrate and expand the network.

The acquisition of Ubiquity is part of Intrepid Fiber's ongoing expansion in California. In December 2024, Intrepid announced its initial expansion into California. On June 16, 2025, the company announced plans to expand into Corona and Riverside, setting a target at that time to provide symmetrical multi-gigabit services to over 50,000 homes and businesses. Intrepid is also active in Colorado, announcing in May 2025 the acquisition of network assets in Thornton and Greenwood Village, adding 65,000 passings to its Colorado footprint.
