en.Wedoany.com Reported - China's Great Wall Motors (GWM) has officially launched the construction of a new factory in Espírito Santo, Brazil, which is expected to begin operations in 2029 with an annual production capacity of 200,000 vehicles.

The Espírito Santo state government announced on Tuesday (30th) the ceremony marking the official start of factory construction. Senior executives including Xiangjun Meng, GWM's Global Product Head, and Acting Governor Ricardo Ferraço attended the ceremony. The state government had previously disclosed in the first quarter that GWM's second factory in Brazil would be located in the city of Aracruz, which is near the state capital Vitória and has port facilities widely used by multiple automakers for importing vehicles.
The factory will be built on a 1.7 million square meter area in Barra do Riacho, adjacent to the port system and major highways. According to the state government, the factory is expected to have an annual production capacity of 200,000 vehicles and will create approximately 10,000 direct and indirect jobs.
The Espírito Santo plant will produce vehicles with multiple technologies, including the compact electric SUV Ora 5 launched last week, as well as other models assembled based on the global GWM1 platform. With the progress of the new factory construction, GWM's investment in Brazil is expected to exceed the previously announced 10 billion reais until the early next decade.
