en.Wedoany.com Reported - UK ultra-rapid charging network operator InstaVolt has agreed to acquire 228 charging sites from Equans' GeniePoint network, covering over 260 charging points located in local government car parks, highways, retail, and hospitality destinations across the country. These sites will be rebranded and upgraded to InstaVolt over the next 12 months, as the company continues to expand its national footprint.
Upon completion of the acquisition, InstaVolt will operate over 4,250 charging points at approximately 1,200 locations nationwide, becoming the first public charging service provider in the UK to surpass 1,000 operational sites. InstaVolt's existing network already includes over 4,000 charging points in operation or under construction across more than 950 locations.
InstaVolt plans to initiate a comprehensive upgrade of the acquired assets, including enhancing grid connections, deploying battery energy storage systems, improving signage, and introducing BYD ultra-rapid charging technology. After the upgrade, the number of charging points at the acquired locations will increase from over 260 to more than 400.
Each site will adopt InstaVolt's proven customer service model, including contactless payment, over 99% uptime, and no requirement for subscriptions or memberships. This acquisition also strengthens InstaVolt's partner portfolio, which already includes major consumer brands and property developers such as McDonald's, Starbucks, Costa Coffee, British Land, and LondonMetric.
InstaVolt CEO Delvin Lane stated that this transaction marks a significant milestone for the company and the UK electric vehicle charging industry. With over 1,200 locations, the company has become the first charging point operator in the UK to operate more than 1,000 sites nationwide, a achievement reflecting the trust of drivers, landlords, and major national brands. With over 2 million electric vehicles on UK roads and growing market demand, this acquisition helps bring InstaVolt's reliability and simplicity to more locations, demonstrating the company's commitment to building the necessary public charging network in driving the electric vehicle transition.
