en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Port of Barcelona has partially received two new railway access and Nou Llobregat station construction projects, with contract values of €16.4 million and €5.7 million, respectively.
Port officials stated that these two projects are key steps in advancing the new railway access route, as they will lay the foundation for constructing the railway superstructure and enable the reconfiguration of existing facilities in the area.
The specific scope of the planned works includes: constructing platforms for installing two connecting lines that will link the new southern railway access to the port's internal existing rail network and connect to the future railway complex—the receiving and dispatch station of the Nou Llobregat station; relocating all existing facilities in the area; building a general drainage tank beneath the railway platforms; implementing the railway superstructure for the Nou Llobregat receiving and dispatch line and the main line of the eastern station loop railway, extending to its southern end to connect with the existing Prat terminal railway access platform and the future southern breakwater branch line starting point.
Additionally, the port plans to receive and accept track equipment valued at €500,000, which will be incorporated into the ongoing construction works.
The above contracts continue previous project progress. For example, in July last year, the first phase of site reinforcement works worth €9.7 million was partially received, enabling the civil construction currently underway to commence.
The project also incorporates environmental measures, including visual and acoustic barriers installed in 2021 to protect bird communities nesting in the Llobregat River estuary, with an investment of €1.27 million.
