en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Private Investment Promotion Agency of Peru (ProInversión) has awarded four strategic transmission projects with a total investment of $339 million, aimed at providing safer and more reliable electricity services to over 1.6 million residents in the regions of Piura, Lambayeque, Junín, and Ayacucho.

The award ceremony was attended by Luis Enrique Santillán, Deputy Minister of Electricity of the Ministry of Energy and Mines; Luis Del Carpio Castro, Executive Chairman of ProInversión; and Emerson Castro, Director of Project Lines. Luis Del Carpio stated that each transmission project award brings more opportunities to the regions, as a modernized power grid not only provides better services to households but also promotes new investments, drives industry, creates jobs, and improves quality of life.
These projects adopt the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model and are developed by Engie Energía Perú. The concessionaire will be responsible for the design, financing, construction, operation, and maintenance of the projects over a 30-year period, ensuring high-quality standards and service continuity.
The works will strengthen the power infrastructure in four regions of the country. In Piura, the project includes the construction of a new 500 kV Miguel Grau–Pariñas transmission line and a substation, aimed at improving power supply and facilitating the integration of renewable energy, primarily wind power, benefiting 1.3 million people. Lambayeque will add new transmission lines and substations to strengthen the transmission system, enhancing power supply reliability for 100,000 residents. In Junín, a new substation will be built in Palián to ensure power supply to Huancayo and reinforce continuous service for 150,000 people. The transmission line project in Ayacucho will enhance the power system's safety for 50,000 residents, reducing the risk of power outages.
These projects are part of the first batch of works under the 2025-2034 Transmission Plan.
