en.Wedoany.com Reported - The National Institute for Agricultural Research (INIA) of Uruguay has launched the 2026 call for the Agricultural Technology Transfer Fund (FPTA), aimed at funding third parties to carry out research, development, and technology transfer projects aligned with priority themes in the sector. The total available funding for this round is up to $3.7 million, with a reference amount of $150,000 per project. The deadline for submitting project summaries has been extended to 14:00 on August 13, 2026.

Since its establishment, the fund has supported research, development, and innovation activities carried out by academic institutions, public organizations, and private enterprises. Between 2021 and 2025, a total of 70 projects were approved for execution, with a combined funding amount of $15.6 million.
The priority thematic areas for this call include aquaculture, dairy agro-industry, sheep and agro-industry, beekeeping, poultry, and swine production chains. It also covers technology development for family farming, product diversification and agro-industrial value addition, as well as socio-economic research and public policy foundations for agriculture and livestock. Other included areas are sustainable production, environment and climate change, dissemination of agricultural science and technology knowledge, animal health, biosecurity and food safety, digital transformation in agriculture and livestock, irrigation systems and water quality, and technology transfer.
The priority themes are determined based on INIA's Research and Development Innovation Agenda and are overseen by the recently reconvened Agricultural Technology Coordination Committee. This committee is composed of representatives from the Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries, the Ministry of Education and Culture, the Ministry of Industry and Energy, the Faculty of Agronomy and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of the Republic, and university group representatives.
Applicant organizations may include domestic or international research institutions, private companies, technical teams, or private consulting firms.
