en.Wedoany.com Reported - Recently, during the 2026 Saudi Water Week, LONGi officially signed a strategic cooperation memorandum with the Saudi Water Authority (SWA). Mansour Al-Mushaiti, Deputy Minister of Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture (MEWA), attended the signing ceremony. Tariq Al-Ghafari, Vice President of Research and Frontier Technologies and Board Member of the Saudi Water Authority, and Jin Jian, President of LONGi Middle East, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective parties.
According to the memorandum, the two parties will deepen cooperation around Saudi Arabia's "Vision 2030" in optimizing the energy structure and intelligent upgrading of Saudi water infrastructure, with a focus on promoting renewable energy integration and digital transformation across the entire chain of water production, treatment, and distribution.
As the core government agency responsible for regulating and developing the water sector in Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Water Authority plays a key role in ensuring water resource sustainability and supply security. This cooperation with LONGi Green Energy represents one of its critical initiatives to drive low-carbon and efficient operations in the water industry.
This strategic partnership establishes a cooperation framework covering four key areas: clean energy integration, digital transformation, industrial localization, and human capital and innovation. These include solar photovoltaic deployment for water infrastructure, green hydrogen and energy storage solutions, artificial intelligence-driven water system optimization and intelligent monitoring and data analysis of water networks, technology localization and supply chain development, as well as workforce training programs for Saudi nationals and joint research, pilot, and demonstration projects.
The signing of this memorandum marks a substantial step forward for Saudi Arabia's water sector in clean energy transition and sustainable development. Notably, LONGi has previously successfully implemented multiple projects in Saudi Arabia, demonstrating its technical capabilities in comprehensive energy solutions under extreme climatic conditions.
In 2025, LONGi Green Energy, in collaboration with SDC Solar Solutions Group, built a benchmark "agrivoltaic" distributed photovoltaic project. The project uses LONGi Hi-MO X10 modules and integrates advanced technologies such as high-temperature resistance, dust prevention, and anti-glare to address the "triple challenge" of high temperatures, high dust, and intense sunlight in Saudi Arabia. This has formed a complete set of technical standards for photovoltaic systems in Middle Eastern desert regions and was included in the Saudi Ministry of Agriculture's "2025 Agricultural New Energy Application Guide."
These successful practices provide replicable and scalable technical models and implementation experience for the cooperation with the Saudi Water Authority.
Tariq Al-Ghafari stated during the signing: "LONGi possesses advanced technical capabilities in the solar energy field and has demonstrated strong support for Saudi Arabia's energy transition goals. This cooperation will help enhance the operational efficiency and sustainability of Saudi water infrastructure."
Jin Jian said: "This memorandum reflects LONGi's long-term commitment to the Middle East market and our firm determination to promote clean energy applications in key infrastructure sectors. We look forward to working with the Saudi Water Authority to explore replicable integrated solar and hydrogen energy solutions, contributing to the realization of Saudi Arabia's sustainable development goals."
This cooperation further solidifies LONGi's deep involvement in the clean energy transition process in the Middle East and provides a positive example for global technology providers to deepen collaboration with Saudi local institutions, jointly driving decarbonization and localization development in key industries.
