en.Wedoany.com Reported - Capgemini UK has secured a five-year Service Management Maturity (SMM) partnership contract with the UK National Highways, valued at £35.9 million, which could increase to £47.2 million at the upper limit. The agreement runs from July 2026 to June 2031 and was awarded through an existing framework arrangement.

Capgemini wins £36 million National Highways service management contract

This contract covers IT and Operational Technology (OT) service management. Through this agreement, Capgemini will help National Highways strengthen and develop its internal service management capabilities. The core of the contract is not only to provide support services but also to drive long-term capacity building, meaning Capgemini needs to optimize existing processes, build a more integrated end-to-end service management model, and gradually transfer knowledge to the National Highways team to enhance the agency's autonomous control over service management.

This approach of embedding external expertise within the client organization reflects a shift in public sector procurement models, where buyers increasingly value improving self-sufficiency while achieving transformation outcomes. Industry analysts point out that market demand is growing for suppliers capable of helping organizations reduce their reliance on external delivery partners.

For Capgemini, this deal further consolidates its market position in the transportation and infrastructure sectors. The company is already part of National Highways' broader IT commercial framework, which has been in place since 2022 and covers multiple service categories and several suppliers. Recent project developments under this framework have generated several significant contract awards, such as the managed services contract held by Version 1 and a data-related agreement awarded to CGI. These developments indicate that National Highways continues to invest in digital infrastructure and service transformation. The signing of the latest contract further expands the portfolio of partners supporting the modernization of the agency's technical systems.
