en.Wedoany.com Reported - On July 4, Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman visited the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) facility in Cadarache, France, and acknowledged the contributions of Indian scientists, engineers, and enterprises to this international nuclear fusion project.

According to a post by the Indian Ministry of Finance on social platform X, Sitharaman toured the ITER facility that day, listened to a briefing on India's participation in the project, and expressed appreciation for the international team involved in constructing the experimental nuclear fusion reactor. The Indian Ministry of Finance stated that ITER is one of the world's most ambitious nuclear fusion energy projects and a significant step toward exploring sustainable clean energy in the future.

The ITER project aims to build the world's largest experimental tokamak nuclear fusion reactor, involving seven member parties including India, along with cooperation from multiple other countries. During the visit, Sitharaman toured areas such as the clean hall, assembly hall, and tokamak pit to learn about project construction and equipment assembly progress.

The Indian Ministry of Finance stated that Sitharaman particularly praised the work of Indian scientists, engineers, and partners, and also mentioned the contributions of Indian companies such as L&T, Inox India, TCS, TCE, and HCL Technologies to the project over the past two decades. She also interacted with Indian professionals from Larsen & Toubro involved in the Cadarache ITER project and met with an Indian engineer from Tamil Nadu who is participating in the project.

ITER is widely regarded as one of the largest scientific cooperation projects globally, with the goal of demonstrating the feasibility of nuclear fusion as a safe, sustainable, and nearly limitless source of clean energy.
