en.Wedoany.com Reported - UK renewable energy developer Clearstone is planning to build a 300MW data centre project near Dartford, Kent. Named the Ebbsfleet AI Data Centre Campus, the project is located on a 145-acre site and will consist of four buildings, with a total data centre space of 180,000 square metres (approximately 1.9 million square feet). As the project is classified as a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project, the planning approval process is expected to be accelerated, with the first facility anticipated to become operational by 2030.
The project will have direct access to the UK National Grid's transmission network, with public consultations scheduled for 2027. The proposed site is currently agricultural land. Founded in 2016, Clearstone has developed 2GW of UK energy projects, with a focus on grid-connected infrastructure.
Clearstone develops utility-scale solar and battery storage projects through its Clearstone Energy division, while data centre operations are managed by Clearstone Data. The company has revealed that its total data centre capacity under development currently stands at 900MW, including two additional 300MW projects in Luton and East London, both scheduled for completion by 2030. Additionally, a previously proposed 300MW battery storage project in Dartford was withdrawn last year after planning officials recommended its rejection.
