en.Wedoany.com Reported - Cortec Corp. (St. Paul, Minnesota) has launched Desicorr VpCI bags, which provide both moisture absorption and corrosion protection during transportation and storage, addressing the challenges posed by high summer temperatures and humidity on metals.

Many regions in the Northern Hemisphere experience significant temperature and humidity fluctuations during summer, a period sometimes referred to as the "rust season." Higher temperatures and increased moisture content in the air accelerate metal corrosion. Traditional methods involve adding desiccant bags inside packaging to absorb moisture, but this approach does not provide active protection against moisture or other corrosive substances that reach the metal surface.
Desicorr VpCI bags combine desiccants and vapor corrosion inhibitors in a single package, going beyond simple moisture absorption. Protective vapors diffuse through a breathable membrane throughout the enclosed space, forming a molecular layer on metal surfaces that inhibits corrosion reactions in the presence of moisture or other corrosive substances. This design aims to enhance corrosion protection while addressing specific moisture issues for sensitive components.
The dosage of this product is determined based on packaging or space size. Desicorr VpCI 1/6 unit and 1 unit provide corrosion protection for enclosed spaces of 1 ft³ and 5 ft³ (28 L and 140 L), with moisture absorption capacities of 1.32 g and 9.9 g respectively (measured at 77°F (25°C) and 75% relative humidity). These smaller sizes are available in a version with a window that shows whether the indicator beads are depleted. Larger packages, such as 20 ft³ or 40 ft³ (560 L or 1,120 L), can use Desicorr VpCI 4 unit or 8 unit windowless bags, with moisture absorption capacities of 39.6 g or 79.2 g respectively. All versions feature enhanced seal strength to prevent accidental rupture and bead release.
