en.Wedoany.com Reported - On July 6, the foundation installation for Poland's Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 offshore wind projects progressed, with half of the 100 wind turbine foundations already installed offshore. These offshore wind projects, jointly developed by Poland's Polenergia and Norway's Equinor, are located in the Baltic Sea and represent a key project portfolio in Poland's offshore wind construction.

Each of the Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 offshore wind projects has a planned capacity of 720 MW, with a combined scale reaching 1.44 GW. Foundation installation began in May, involving the installation of monopile foundations and transition pieces. Bałtyk 2 is located approximately 37 kilometers off the Polish coast, while Bałtyk 3 is about 22 kilometers offshore. These foundations will support wind turbine towers approximately 260 meters in height, and the projects will utilize 14.4 MW-class wind turbines.

The project company stated that offshore foundation construction is a technically demanding phase in offshore wind project development, requiring offshore operational experience, safety management, and coordination between onshore and offshore teams. With half of the foundation construction for the Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 offshore wind projects completed, the projects will continue with the remaining foundation installation, submarine cable laying, wind turbine erection, and grid connection commissioning. According to the current schedule, the two offshore wind projects are expected to begin power generation in 2027, with full commercial operation targeted for 2028. Once completed, the electricity from the projects is expected to meet the power needs of approximately 2 million households in Poland.
