en.Wedoany.com Reported - On the afternoon of July 6, under the meticulous support and maintenance of the Jiangyin Maritime Safety Administration, the "Xinwang Hao," carrying 143 containers, slowly departed from the port, heading to Shanghai's Luodong and Yidong terminals. This marked the official launch of the "Five-Fixed Premium Express Service" from Jiangyin to Shanghai, ushering in an efficient and worry-free "water highway" connecting Jiangyin to the Shanghai International Shipping Center and the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta.
"The domestic trade barge transportation on the Yangtze River suffers from issues such as fragmented capacity, unstable timeliness, lack of priority operations at both ends, and port delays due to weather impacts, which constrain local enterprises' willingness to shift from land to water or from road to water transport," a relevant official from Jiangyin Sunan Terminal told reporters.
In response to these bottlenecks hindering port development, the "Five-Fixed Premium Express Service" was created. Operated by Jiangsu Jihai Shipping, this route implements standardized "five-fixed" operations: fixed points, fixed routes, fixed vessels, fixed schedules, and fixed berths. It uniformly deploys standard barges over 80 meters in length and establishes exclusive priority channels for operations at both Jiangyin and Shanghai terminals. This effectively addresses issues such as fragmented capacity, significant schedule fluctuations, low operational efficiency, and susceptibility to weather-related port delays in traditional inland barge transportation, further stabilizing water transport timeliness and reducing logistics costs for enterprises.
To ensure the smooth launch of the new route, the Jiangyin Maritime Safety Administration proactively coordinated with terminals and shipping companies, comprehensively surveyed the route's navigational conditions, vessel capacity allocation, and berthing and departure operation plans, identified navigational risks in advance, and guided enterprises to implement navigation safety and on-site operation control measures. On the day of the maiden voyage, the administration strengthened on-site water area order control and safety inspections, regulated the passage of vessels in the area, strictly controlled risks of waterside operations, and ensured the smooth and orderly conduct of the maiden voyage activities and the safe departure of the vessel.
"Port development must focus on both domestic and international dual circulation. The launch of the Five-Fixed Premium Express Service is not only significant for smoothing the internal circulation of Yangtze River Delta ports and reducing costs and increasing efficiency for port and shipping enterprises, but also a vivid practice in creating an optimal business environment innovation zone for Wuxi (Jiangyin) in the Yangtze River Basin. The maritime department will continue to provide regular safety supervision and navigational support for the route, fully serving the high-quality development of the port and shipping economy," said Jia Yabo, Deputy Director of the Jiangyin Maritime Safety Administration.
Notably, the "Xinwang Hao" carried a total of 143 containers at Jiangyin Port, including 70 large containers and 73 small containers, primarily loaded with key livelihood materials and industrial raw materials such as grain and steel. This precisely matched the bulk cargo transportation needs of local enterprises, opening up an efficient new water-to-water transshipment channel for local factories and freight forwarding companies in Jiangyin.
It is understood that the route will regularly operate four weekly departures on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday, with subsequent adjustments to increase frequency and optimize schedules based on market cargo volumes. The launch of the route has further improved the water-to-water transshipment and trunk-feeder linkage logistics system of Jiangyin Port, replicating the mature standardized and intensive operational model of Shanghai Port to Jiangyin's inland feeder routes, addressing the shortfall in rapid transshipment between Shanghai and Jiangyin, and enhancing the integrated "trunk + feeder" network, thereby further boosting the overall transshipment competitiveness of Jiangyin Port.
