en.Wedoany.com Reported - Rustam Akhmedov, Head of the Sustainable Development Department at Uzbekistan's Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex, has completed an educational program and obtained an international certificate confirming his qualifications in the ESG field.



To promote international ESG standards and sustainable development principles in Uzbekistan's state-owned enterprises, UzAssets Joint-Stock Company (UzAssets), with support from the Asian Development Bank and in cooperation with the Higher School of Business and Entrepreneurship under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, implemented a two-stage educational program, "ESG Center of Excellence," for experts from the country's major state-owned enterprises.
On July 3, 2026, a certificate awarding ceremony was held for the program's first cohort of graduates. On the same day, the launch of a new online ESG course was announced, which will allow employees of all state-owned enterprises in the country to receive training in the field of sustainable development.
The event noted that sustainable development is becoming one of the key factors in the competitiveness of state-owned enterprises. Adhering to ESG principles helps attract capital, enhance investor confidence, and improve a company's readiness to enter international markets, conduct IPOs, and implement privatization projects. The educational program aims to develop modern competencies in corporate governance, environmental and social responsibility, sustainable development, and the practical application of international ESG standards. The participation of a representative from the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex in this program represents another important step for the company on its path to advancing ESG principles and adopting best international practices.
