en.Wedoany.com Reported - Octopus Energy has launched the Nook series of residential battery storage systems, targeting groups such as apartment dwellers and renters who have previously found it difficult to install home energy storage. The series includes two products: the Octopus Nook Cube, a 2 kWh plug-in battery that connects directly to a standard household socket and can be expanded to 10.5 kWh by adding additional units; and the Octopus Nook Colossus, a wall-mounted 5 kWh battery expandable up to 30 kWh for larger homes. Both systems are compatible with rooftop solar installations, come with a 12-year warranty, and are designed to store electricity during low-price periods and discharge during peak hours.

Octopus stated that the Nook series will first launch in the UK in 2027, followed by expansions into Germany, France, Italy, and Spain. The company also announced the establishment of Swaptopus—a joint venture with CATL aimed at building a European battery swapping network for electric trucks. The first swapping station is planned to open in the UK in 2027. A company spokesperson said the network is expected to expand across Europe, including Italy, by 2035. Octopus entered the Italian retail energy market in 2022 and currently has over 900,000 customer accounts in the country, having invested more than €250 million ($285.9 million) to date, with plans to increase investment to over €1 billion by 2030.
