en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) on Monday joined forces with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) to advance flood mitigation efforts under a whole-of-government approach. Malacañang confirmed that multiple government agencies have jointly implemented the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to address flooding issues nationwide.

Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary and Malacañang Press Officer Claire Castro stated that the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), under the leadership of Acting Secretary Juan Miguel Cuna, has formally coordinated with other agencies to integrate into the government's flood response actions. Executing the President's directive, the DENR signed Administrative Order No. 2026-30 on June 29, formally adopting the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Global Standard for Nature-based Solutions (NbS) and institutionalizing it across all policies, programs, projects, and activities of the department.

The administrative order establishes a national framework aimed at scaling up ecosystem-based interventions. These measures are expected to reduce disaster risks, secure water supply, restore degraded lands and coastal areas, and deliver tangible benefits to communities. Castro noted that nature-based solutions will yield perceptible results for ordinary Filipinos, including reduced flooding and related losses, cleaner water for drinking and agriculture, and new livelihood opportunities through ecosystem restoration.
