en.Wedoany.com Reported - Yanmar Construction Equipment presented solutions for decarbonization and labor shortages at the 8th International Construction & Surveying Exhibition (CSPI 2026, held from June 17 to 20, 2026, at Makuhari Messe). For decarbonization, an electric excavator and a crawler carrier equipped with Honda's swappable mobile batteries were displayed as reference exhibits. Additionally, ICT construction machinery supporting i-Construction 2.0, including 3D machine control and machine guidance, was also showcased to supplement skilled worker expertise amid labor shortages.

The reference exhibits of the two electric construction machines attracted significant attention. The mini excavator and crawler carrier use Honda's swappable mobile battery, "Honda Mobile Power Pack e:", as their power source. This mobile power pack offers high reliability and long lifespan, and is also used in electric motorcycles and small mobile devices, equipped with an advanced battery management system.

Each exhibited machine is equipped with two battery packs, providing a continuous operating time of approximately one hour on a full charge. Booth staff noted that small construction machinery is often used in small-scale projects such as gardening and external works, where continuous operation is rare. In practice, swapping batteries during breaks allows the machines to complete a full day's workload.

Yanmar Construction Equipment already sells rechargeable electric construction machinery in the European market. In Japan, this swappable battery-type product is expected to pioneer electrification. Currently in the reference exhibit stage, the company is gathering customer feedback and carefully assessing market demand.
