en.Wedoany.com Reported - UK residential construction company Breck Homes plans to build 136 affordable homes on the former St. Dominic's Primary School site in Hutton, Knowsley, with the project currently in the planning application stage. The developer is acquiring the 6.7-acre site on Southdean Road, with the transaction contingent on obtaining planning permission.

The primary school closed in 2011, and the site, adjacent to St. Dominic's Church, has remained vacant since. As one of the active land buyers and residential developers in the Northwest, Breck Homes is preparing to submit planning proposals to Knowsley Council after completing contract exchanges with the Archdiocese of Liverpool for the site. The plans include a mix of one- to four-bedroom houses and one- and two-bedroom apartments, with all 136 homes offered under affordable housing tenures.

Construction is expected to begin in spring 2027, subject to planning permission, and the land transaction will be completed upon planning approval.

Phil Dolan, Managing Director of Breck Homes Northwest, stated that this is a significant brownfield site that has been unused for years, and the company sees it as an opportunity to repurpose it for positive use to benefit the local community. He noted that Hutton, like many areas in the Northwest, needs more high-quality affordable homes, and the company aims to create a place that delivers these homes, improves long-neglected land, and makes a positive contribution to Hutton. Dolan added that the company understands the site's importance to the local area, especially given its connection to St. Dominic's Church and the former school, and will therefore work carefully and constructively with residents, the parish, the Archdiocese, and Knowsley Council as the plans progress.

A spokesperson for the Archdiocese of Liverpool said that after a rigorous selection process, the Archdiocese is confident that this land behind St. Dominic's Church has been entrusted to a developer capable of delivering high-quality affordable homes, which will bring lasting benefits to the local community.

A consultation event will be held at The Gate Community Centre in Hutton on July 16 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
