en.Wedoany.com Reported - French operator Bouygues Telecom has integrated Google's conversational AI, Gemini, into its b.tv key, allowing users to search for content using natural language and receive personalized recommendations by simply pressing the microphone button on the remote control. This feature has been gradually deployed since early July 2026, further enriching the operator's AI set-top box service launched in January this year.

Bouygues Telecom's partnership with Google began with the launch of its first compatible set-top boxes in 2015. In January this year, the two companies deepened their collaboration by redesigning the b.tv set-top box with AI to optimize picture quality and the TV experience. The integration of Gemini makes voice interaction more intuitive: the assistant can understand natural language requests such as "What award-winning drama films are there?" or "Do I need a raincoat?" and can also control compatible smart home devices. Wish lists and personalized profiles provide a tailored experience for subscribers.

On the hardware side, the b.tv key remote control now features a dedicated button that, when pressed lightly, activates the AI and initiates requests. The operator states that over half of French people have already used conversational AI, and the growing popularity of voice interfaces is driving the public toward more natural ways of interacting with technology.

Bruno Duarte, Head of Mass Market at Bouygues Telecom, said the operator aims to provide "an ever more intuitive and personalized TV experience" by putting Google's AI directly into the hands of subscribers. With 27.1 million mobile customers and 5.4 million fixed-line customers (referencing the ongoing negotiations for the acquisition of SFR), Bouygues Telecom has the capacity to deploy such innovations on a large scale. The b.tv key is bundled with the 5G Box TV package, priced at €34.99 per month for the first 12 months for new users, then €44.99 per month thereafter; the key is sold separately for €29.99.
