en.Wedoany.com Reported - Eavor Technologies has received an $8 million grant from the Government of Alberta to advance its Eavor-Loop geothermal technology.

The Eavor-Loop is a closed-loop underground geothermal system that circulates a working fluid to capture the Earth's natural heat, providing low-carbon energy. In the mining sector, this technology can be used to supply off-grid power to remote operations, meeting process needs such as water heating and ventilation.

The project to advance the Eavor-Loop is named Eavor-Jules, with a total estimated value of $83 million. The company stated that the project aims to enhance the technology's operational depth and temperature range. With this funding, Eavor is focusing on updating the system's engineering modeling and prototype testing.

Eavor CEO Matt Toews said in a press release that this technology has the potential to unlock scalable geothermal energy in regions lacking traditional geothermal resources, providing a clean, safe, and affordable energy solution globally.

The grant is provided through the Drilling Technology Challenge by Emission Reduction Alberta (ERA). The challenge has allocated a total of $37 million to 10 drilling technology projects, covering areas such as robotic automation, artificial intelligence-driven energy management, and geothermal systems. Grant Hunter, Alberta's Minister of Environment and Protected Areas, stated that the challenge aims to identify companies with entrepreneurial spirit that make Alberta a global energy leader. He added that projects like Eavor-Jules help attract investment, create jobs, and position Alberta at the forefront of next-generation drilling and geothermal technology.
