en.Wedoany.com Reported - U.S. renewable energy company Leeward Renewable Energy (LRE) held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its 725-megawatt solar project portfolio in Oklahoma. The portfolio, with an investment of approximately $1.5 billion, encompasses seven photovoltaic power plant projects, six of which are already in commercial operation, while one remains under construction.

The solar project portfolio includes: Salt Branch Solar 1 and 2 (totaling 145 MW), Huckleberry Solar (125 MW), Mayes Solar (102 MW), Twelvemile Solar 1 and 2 (totaling 153 MW), and the 200 MW Twelvemile 3 Solar project, which is still under construction. These solar plants are distributed across multiple counties in Oklahoma and represent one of the largest solar investments in the region.

These projects support Google's local data center operations and regional electricity demand by providing fixed transmission services to GRDA (Grand River Dam Authority), AEP (American Electric Power), and OG&E (Oklahoma Gas and Electric). This model serves as an example of collaboration between technology companies and renewable energy developers. The solar project portfolio has created over 2,000 construction jobs and is expected to contribute approximately $148.8 million in tax revenue to state and local governments over its operational lifespan. Additionally, LRE implemented vegetation and biodiversity plans during construction, including establishing 7,712 acres of pollinator-friendly habitats and employing sheep grazing for vegetation management.
