en.Wedoany.com Reported - WeaveGrid has partnered with GM Energy to integrate U.S. electric vehicle (EV) owners into utility programs that support grid reliability and affordability.

Announced on July 7, this collaboration aligns with General Motors' vehicle-to-grid (V2G) strategy, aiming to help eligible Chevrolet, GMC, and Cadillac EV owners participate in programs that enhance grid reliability and affordability. The partnership focuses on supporting managed charging programs and grid services.

Specific services include distribution-level coordination, bidirectional charging, and residential energy storage. WeaveGrid's platform will allow GM EVs with bidirectional charging capabilities, as well as homes equipped with GM Energy's vehicle-to-home (V2H) systems, to enroll in utility programs in available regions.

Currently, over 250,000 GM EVs with bidirectional charging capabilities are on U.S. roads. The GM Energy V2H kit enables these vehicles to power homes and holds future potential to supply power to the grid. Additionally, the GM Energy Home System provides integrated stationary storage through the GM Energy PowerBank battery. These initiatives aim to improve grid utilization and create customer value via WeaveGrid's Distribution Integrated System Capacity Orchestration (DISCO) platform.

For utilities, this partnership simplifies the process of incorporating eligible GM vehicles and GM Energy resources into customer programs designed to shift load, enhance grid reliability, and improve overall grid utilization. For customers, it opens new avenues to enroll in utility programs, earn incentives, and leverage their vehicles and home energy resources to support the grid.

Mathias Bell, Vice President of Market Development and Partnerships at WeaveGrid, emphasized that managed charging is a key near-term opportunity for utilities, and the partnership with GM Energy aims to streamline customer participation in these programs. This collaboration reflects WeaveGrid's commitment to serving as a trusted platform for utility programs in the face of growing EV and distributed energy resource adoption.
