en.Wedoany.com Reported - JERA Co., Inc. today announced its participation in the newly established "Kawasaki Nature Loop Global Platform" in Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture, which was launched today by the city to promote biodiversity.
This framework aims to advance Kawasaki City's "Green Future Vision"—a specific goal set by the Kawasaki City Government to realize a "happy society where people and nature coexist" over the next century—and involves collaboration between the city government, local businesses, and other organizations to promote nature-positive initiatives through the assessment and monitoring of greening and biodiversity.
JERA's mission is to "provide cutting-edge solutions for the world's energy problems." The company recognizes the importance of environmental protection globally and complies with environmental regulations and social expectations in the countries and regions where it operates. JERA is committed to reducing CO2 emissions, mitigating impacts on air and water quality, and protecting biodiversity. The company is also advancing nature-positive initiatives that leverage the natural assets of its thermal power stations, such as certifying the JERA Park at the Yokosuka Thermal Power Station as a sustainably managed natural site.
As the operator of two thermal power stations in Kawasaki City (Kawasaki Thermal Power Station and Higashi-Ogishima Thermal Power Station), JERA's participation in this framework will support efforts to assess and monitor greening and biodiversity in the city, with a focus on highlighting the value of natural assets such as green spaces at thermal power stations. These efforts will contribute to advancing nature-positive initiatives across Kawasaki City, while JERA continues to promote harmony between local communities and nature in other regions where it operates thermal power stations.
