en.Wedoany.com Reported - Germany's Schaeffler has partnered for the first time with Chinese company Leju Robotics Technology Co., Ltd. to jointly develop humanoid robots for industrial applications. This marks Schaeffler's first collaboration with a Chinese company, building on its existing partnerships with European and American manufacturers, and represents a significant step in expanding its global humanoid robot partner network.

The collaboration aims to advance the application of humanoid robots in industrial settings, covering scenarios such as smart factory inspections, equipment operation assistance, logistics, and human-machine collaboration. Schaeffler plans to integrate thousands of humanoid robots into its production processes by 2035.
Schaeffler CEO Klaus Rosenfeld stated that beyond its traditional core business, the company is strategically targeting new growth areas such as humanoid robots. The partnership with Leju Robotics provides Schaeffler with a strong innovation partner in the most dynamic growth market for humanoid robots. Leveraging its eight product lines, decades of manufacturing expertise, and innovation capabilities, Schaeffler holds a competitive advantage, and this collaboration confirms its position as a reliable and powerful partner in the global humanoid ecosystem.
Leju Robotics Vice President Zhendong Ke noted that Schaeffler possesses deep expertise in high-end equipment manufacturing and industrial automation, while Leju Robotics offers insights into humanoid robot R&D and industrialization. The partnership will integrate these strengths, focusing on industrial application scenarios, data collection, model iteration, and next-generation technology development, aiming to build an open, win-win humanoid robot ecosystem through joint innovation across the industrial value chain.
Schaeffler supplies key components for humanoid robots, including rolling bearings, ball screws, precision reducers, motors, sensors, and thermal and battery management systems, meeting requirements for actuators, sensors, motion control, and energy management. Schaeffler's expertise in twelve core manufacturing technologies—from metalworking to additive manufacturing—provides additional support. This portfolio creates conditions for integrating mature industrial processes with advanced robotics to develop scalable solutions.
Schaeffler Greater China CEO Dr. Yilin Zhang stated that humanoid robots are one of Schaeffler's strategic business areas with significant potential in the Chinese market. The signing of this strategic cooperation agreement is an important step following the establishment of an independent humanoid robot company locally, further strengthening its participation in China's industrial ecosystem through open, win-win collaboration. Schaeffler looks forward to working with outstanding partners like Leju Robotics to drive the development of the humanoid robot industry.
