en.Wedoany.com Reported - Aviva Investors has unveiled revised plans for an industrial park near Manchester Airport, proposing a 400,000 sq ft development on the former Ferranti electronics factory site at the junction of Styal Road and Simonsway.

The investor previously submitted a similar proposal for Atlas Business Park to Manchester City Council in 2023, but it was rejected due to encroachment on the Green Belt. The council also noted that Aviva had failed to demonstrate that the five-building development would not affect "the operational integrity or safety of Manchester Airport."

The revised plans remove the portion encroaching on the Green Belt and shift the project westward to preserve protected land. As a result, the proposed site now includes the vacant former Vodafone building, which Aviva plans to demolish. The site area has also been slightly reduced from 23 acres to 19 acres. Aviva stated that it has consulted with Manchester Airport during the development of the revised plans.

According to Aviva, if approved, the project could generate approximately £44 million in Gross Value Added (GVA) for Greater Manchester. A spokesperson for Aviva Investors said: "South Manchester still needs high-quality employment and logistics space to support local businesses, jobs, and economic growth. Our proposal will create a range of new, high-quality jobs across different skill levels, helping local residents find employment while also bringing significant investment and economic growth to Manchester."
