en.Wedoany.com Reported - North East Lincolnshire Council has announced that road and pavement reconstruction works will be carried out on Yarborough Road in Grimsby from July 13 to October 24, 2026, aimed at improving the safety of this section of road.

Road project to enhance safety on Yarborough Road, Grimsby

The scope of the works extends from Grange Walk to the Market Hotel roundabout. The council stated that by adjusting the road layout, visibility for vehicles exiting Cross Coates Road will be improved, making it easier for drivers to see oncoming traffic on Yarborough Road, thereby helping to reduce the risk of collisions.

The project will be carried out in phases to minimize long-term disruption to residents and road users. Major road closures are scheduled for nighttime or weekends to avoid peak traffic hours. Phase 1 involves civil engineering and pavement reconstruction, running from July 13 to October 16. Within this, Phase 1A covers Grange Walk to the Tesco car park entrance and will be completed in sections, potentially involving temporary pavement closures, suspension of bus stops, side road closures, and temporary suspension of on-street parking. During this phase, two-way traffic on Yarborough Road will be maintained as much as possible. Phase 1B covers the Tesco car park entrance to the Market Hotel roundabout and requires full closures over two weekends: from 7:00 PM on Friday, August 21 to 4:00 AM on Monday, August 24, and from 7:00 PM on Friday, September 4 to 4:00 AM on Monday, September 7.

Phase 2 involves road reconstruction and lining works. Phase 2A, deep road reconstruction, will take place from September 28 to October 16, with full closures from 7:00 PM to 4:00 AM each night, completed in three sections: Section 1 from Fannystone Road to the Market Hotel roundabout (September 28–October 2), Section 2 from Cross Coates Road to Fannystone Road (October 5–October 9), and Section 3 from Grange Walk to Cross Coates Road (October 12–October 16). Phase 2B, final surfacing and road markings, will be carried out from October 19 to October 24, with nighttime closures (7:00 PM to 4:00 AM) on the section from Grange Walk to the Market Hotel roundabout. Throughout the entire project, the junction of Norman Road and Yarborough Road will be closed to traffic.

During construction, on-street parking will be suspended in the work area and surrounding areas, while pedestrian access will be maintained. Due to nighttime road closures, Stagecoach Route 4 buses will be diverted via Littlefield Lane, Chelmsford Avenue, and Cambridge Road, resuming normal service during non-closure periods. The council and its contractor, Specialist Surfacing Ltd, will make every effort to minimize disruption and thank residents, businesses, and road users for their patience during the completion of these necessary highway improvements.
