en.Wedoany.com Reported - The first monopiles for the Nordlicht 1 offshore wind project arrived at Eemshaven, Netherlands, on July 8, marking the start of large-scale logistics operations for one of Germany's largest offshore wind projects.

The transport of all 68 monopiles is being carried out by Royal Wagenborg of the Netherlands on behalf of DEME of Belgium. The transport fleet departed from Rostock, Germany, to deliver these monopiles to the transshipment port of Eemshaven. Each monopile measures 80.5 meters in length and weighs up to 1,290 tons. Upon arrival at Eemshaven, the monopiles will be transferred to DEME's offshore installation vessel "Orion" for foundation installation at the wind farm site in the German North Sea. During unloading, Wagenborg is responsible for ballasting operations to ensure the stability of the transport barges and safe handling of the cargo.
The Nordlicht 1 offshore wind project, developed by Swedish utility Vattenfall, is located approximately 85 kilometers north of the island of Borkum in the German North Sea. The project has an installed capacity of approximately 980 megawatts and consists of 68 Vestas V236-15.0 MW turbines. Previous media reports indicate that DEME is responsible for the transport and installation of all 112 foundations for the project (including Nordlicht 2), with the monopiles manufactured by EEW Special Pipe Constructions in Rostock. Nordlicht 1 is scheduled for full commissioning in 2028, and together with Nordlicht 2, it will provide a combined renewable energy capacity of over 1.6 gigawatts, with an annual power generation of approximately 6 terawatt-hours.
