en.Wedoany.com Reported - Zeekr, the premium brand under Geely, is evaluating the possibility of entering the hardcore off-road SUV and pickup truck markets. Mars Chen, Vice President of Zeekr, revealed in an interview with Australian media outlet Drive that the company is developing relevant models, though mass production plans have not yet been finalized. Currently, Zeekr's product lineup primarily covers luxury electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids, including the X, 7X, 8X, and 9X SUVs, as well as the 009 electric MPV.
Mars Chen stated that hardcore off-road SUVs represent a clear direction, and the company is conducting related research. However, it remains unclear whether a boxy model similar to the Mercedes-Benz G-Class will ultimately be developed. He noted that the existing 9X and 8X models already offer respectable off-road capabilities, though they are not positioned as extreme off-roaders.

If Zeekr launches a new off-road vehicle, it could directly compete with models such as the Bao 5 and Bao 8 from BYD's Fangchengbao brand. These models are also sold under the Denza brand in some markets, offering rich features at prices lower than their European competitors.
In the same interview, Chen hinted that Zeekr is also evaluating the pickup truck market and may develop a competitor to the BYD Shark 6. He stated that discussions are currently internal only, and the company aims to redefine each market segment while assessing the disruptive impact of entering them.

Currently, Zeekr's flagship model is the 9X, launched last year with a design that blends elements of the Rolls-Royce Cullinan and the Land Rover Range Rover. It is available exclusively as a plug-in hybrid. The base version features a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and two electric motors, delivering a combined 885 horsepower; a three-motor version can produce up to 1,381 horsepower.
