en.Wedoany.com Reported - Nordic Ren-Gas, a Finnish renewable fuel producer, has signed a $1.14 billion e-methane supply agreement with German energy group avanca Energy. The partnership aims to build a fully integrated cross-border supply chain for renewable e-methane from Finland to the European market, considered one of the largest commercial collaborations of its kind in Europe.

According to a joint statement, the agreement integrates Ren-Gas's e-methane production platform in Finland with avanca/Alternoil's established LNG distribution network in Europe. avanca Energy operates two subsidiaries, avanca Renewables and Alternoil. The renewables division manages the renewable fuel portfolio, including sourcing bio-LNG and e-methane with upstream production partnerships, while Alternoil operates Germany's largest LNG distribution network, with 55 filling stations and over 120 refueling points.

The partners stated that through existing natural gas infrastructure, e-methane produced at the Tampere plant can be directly distributed to heavy-duty truck operators without any modifications to vehicles or refueling stations. Ren-Gas produces e-methane by combining hydrogen with captured carbon dioxide. According to the statement, e-methane is chemically identical to biomethane and can serve as a direct replacement fuel for existing natural gas and LNG infrastructure, making it one of the most cost-effective and immediately deployable decarbonization options for long-haul freight transport.
