Caterpillar Delivers First Two 707 Wide-Body Trucks to South African Customer

en.Wedoany.com Reported - Caterpillar's dealer in southern Africa, Barloworld Equipment, has delivered the first two Cat® 707 WBT wide-body trucks to a large mining customer in the Northern Cape province of South Africa, marking the first sale and delivery of this model in the southern African market.

Barloworld stated that the core value of this delivery is reflected in three aspects: a customer-centric fleet renewal and replacement plan that meets PDMI Level 9 readiness requirements; the proven reliability and operational productivity of the Cat 707 platform; and the deepening partnership aimed at delivering safer and more efficient fleet operation solutions for the customer.

The Cat 707 WBT truck comes standard with VisionLink® remote connectivity, enhancing fleet visibility and equipment status monitoring, and providing data-driven decision support to improve operational efficiency.

Caterpillar officially launched this model in January 2026. The wide-body truck features a fully integrated Cat powertrain, including the Cat C13 engine, Cat automatic transmission, and Cat-specific axles, with a rated payload of 66 tons. It is available in standard or heavy-duty configurations, with body capacities of 40 cubic meters and 42 cubic meters.

In terms of power configuration, the Cat 707 can be equipped with a 400 kW Cat C13B engine meeting China's Non-Road Mobile Machinery Stage IV (China IV) emission standards, or a 358 kW C13 engine with emission levels equivalent to the US EPA Tier 3 standard. Both power versions come standard with a high-power engine retarder, and the six-speed automatic transmission can be optionally equipped with an integrated hydraulic retarder.

The vehicle features a triple braking and retarding system, including an integrated Cat engine retarder, an optional Cat hydraulic retarder, as well as service brakes and parking brakes, providing excellent control performance under heavy-load downhill conditions. The new Cat 707 can achieve optimal loading matching with Cat 986, 988, and 988 XE wheel loaders, as well as Cat 350, 374, and 395 excavators, enhancing overall operational efficiency.
