This statement was made during a meeting held on July 12 in the Cabinet Division conference room of the Bangladesh Secretariat, which focused on the restoration and development of Dhamondi Lake and Gulshan Lake, as well as the installation of sewage treatment plants.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister received briefings from the Dhaka South City Corporation on the restoration and reconstruction of Dhamondi Lake, the construction of Nazrul Sarobar, and the installation of sewage treatment plants as part of the modernization of Dhaka's sewage system. The Prime Minister's Deputy Press Secretary, Shahadat Hossain Shadin, briefed the media on the meeting afterwards.

The meeting decided to take effective measures to completely shut down all illegal waste discharge pipelines connected to Gulshan Lake and Baridhara Lake within the next six months. Meanwhile, Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) will lead the cleaning, beautification, and environmental improvement activities for Gulshan Lake.
State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mir Shah Alam, State Minister for Housing and Public Works Ahmed Sohel Manzur, Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Chief Executive Officer Md. Shafiqul Islam Khan, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Chief Executive Officer Md. Abdus Salam, Prime Minister's Principal Secretary ABM Abdus Sattar, and other senior officials attended the meeting.
