en.Wedoany.com Reported - NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NREL), a wholly owned subsidiary of India's National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), has initiated a tender for the construction of a 400 kV substation for the 900 MW solar project in Mandasaur, Madhya Pradesh. The project adopts a domestic competitive bidding method, conducted through an online single-stage two-envelope system, where bidders are required to submit both technical-commercial and price bids simultaneously.
The scope of the tender covers the complete design, engineering, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of the substation, along with all associated civil and structural works. The successful bidder will construct a 400 kV Air Insulated Switchgear (AIS) station equipped with five AIS bays. The scope also includes the installation of a substation automation system, protection and metering systems, auxiliary equipment, and a main control unit. Additionally, the contractor is required to conduct grid connection compliance studies for this solar project, which is planned to be developed in three independent 300 MW modules.

The contractor is also required to install and commission two 500 MVA interconnecting transformers (ICTs) provided by the project owner, construct a control room, install a telemetry data system, and provide operation and maintenance (O&M) services for a period of three years following the successful commissioning of the project.
NREL has set detailed technical and financial qualification requirements for bidders. Technically, bidders must have successfully commissioned at least one Air Insulated Switchgear station of 400 kV or higher voltage class within the past ten years, with the switchgear station comprising at least four bays. The project must have been in successful operation for at least one year. Bidders with experience in commissioning a 220 kV switchgear station with at least four bays and one 400 kV bay are also eligible.
Financially, bidders must have an average annual turnover of at least INR 27 million over the past three financial years. Their financial position must be sound, with net worth equal to or greater than 100% of the paid-up share capital as of the last day of the most recent financial year.
According to the tender schedule, bidders can download the tender documents from July 3, 2026, to July 13, 2026 (until 5:00 PM IST). The pre-bid meeting and the deadline for submitting queries is July 15, 2026. The bid submission deadline is July 27, 2026, at 2:00 PM IST, with the technical-commercial bids scheduled to be opened at 2:30 PM on the same day.
Bidders are required to submit an Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) of INR 10 million, which can be submitted via a sealed envelope or by providing proof of an electronic transfer. Companies must also register on the ISN e-tendering service portal and submit a signed confidentiality agreement before the end of the document sale period to obtain the official tender documents. All communication related to the tender is handled by the Contract Services department of NTPC Renewable Energy Limited, located in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
