en.Wedoany.com Reported - Persimmon Homes West Scotland has completed the Fairfields development in South Ayrshire, which has transformed the site since construction began in 2020.

The project offers a range of home types, from two-bedroom townhouses to five-bedroom detached houses, catering to first-time buyers, growing families, and downsizers. Of these, 50 homes have been handed over to Riverside Housing Association to address local housing needs.
In addition to delivering homes, Persimmon has invested over £1.56 million in local education and funded traffic signal upgrades and bicycle parking facilities. Through the Community Champions initiative, the company also supported several local organizations and events during development, including Monkton Gala Day.
The development is notable for its careful integration of local heritage, preserving Monkton Windmill and two listed buildings near the Macrae Monument on site. Persimmon worked with Historic Environment Scotland and local partners to design the layout, protecting these features while opening them to the public via new pathways and interpretation boards.
The project also left a skills legacy, with several apprentices starting their careers and gaining practical experience here. Among them is Chantelle Muir from Ayr, Persimmon Homes West Scotland's first female bricklaying apprentice, who went on to achieve record-breaking success in a national construction competition after starting here.
Chris Logan, Managing Director of Persimmon Homes West Scotland, said Fairfields delivered far more than new homes—it created a lasting community, protected important heritage assets, and provided opportunities for young people to start careers in construction. He expressed pride in the project's legacy in Monkton and across South Ayrshire.
