en.Wedoany.com Reported - Banco do Brasil has signed a contract with Correios worth up to 2.307 billion BRL for the latter to provide domestic and international conventional, special, and remote information processing postal services to all of the bank's units. The contract was signed on June 26, 2026, effective from July 2, 2026, with a duration of 60 months.

The contract was executed without a third-party bidding process. Banco do Brasil stated that the bidding was not conducted due to "competitive infeasibility." Most of the required services are monopolized by Correios, accounting for approximately 97.84% of the bank's postal expenditures. For non-monopolized services, Banco do Brasil noted that no other service provider possesses the same coverage density, national reach, and operational capacity as Correios in remote and hard-to-reach areas.
The prices implemented by Correios are determined by regulated tariffs or standardized commercial policies, with no possibility for individualized negotiation. The contract was signed in accordance with Law No. 6.538/1978 and Decree No. 12.464/2025.
This contract is significant for Correios, which reported a loss of 3.15 billion BRL in the first quarter of this year and a total loss of 8.5 billion BRL for the full year of 2025.
