Renault Dacia Launches Striker Coupe SUV in Romania with Multiple Hybrid Powertrain Options

en.Wedoany.com Reported - Renault Group's Dacia brand has launched a new coupe SUV model, the Striker, which shares a platform with the Bigster and has a body length of 4.62 meters. The Striker features a full LED lighting system and muscular design. Its interior is similar to the Bigster and Renault Boreal models, using sustainable materials while retaining physical buttons, with a trunk capacity of 600 liters.

The Dacia Striker offers multiple powertrain options, including liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and a 48-volt mild hybrid system. One system consists of a 1.8-liter naturally aspirated engine (109 hp), two electric motors (49 hp combined), and a 1.4 kWh battery, prioritizing pure electric mode to reduce fuel consumption and emissions. The all-wheel-drive version features a 1.2-liter turbocharged engine (140 hp) on the front axle and a 31 hp electric motor on the rear axle, providing auxiliary drive in both pure electric and hybrid modes.

The launch of the Striker is closely linked to Renault's product strategy in the Brazilian market. Renault previously announced an investment of 3.8 billion Brazilian reais in Brazil, producing models including two Geely brand vehicles and one Renault model. The Boreal model inherits interior components, platform, and hybrid system from the Bigster. After the Striker enters the Brazilian market under the Renault brand, its design style will be closer to the Boreal and the upcoming Niagara pickup truck. The new-generation Duster has been undergoing testing in Brazil, equipped with the electrified system adopted by the Boreal, whose Turkish version is already in use.

Renault plans to launch a new zero-emission model based on a new platform in 2027, positioning it as fully electric. Speculation suggests that this new model could be an electrified version of the Striker coupe SUV.
