en.Wedoany.com Reported - On July 13, the Guangdong Provincial Standardization Association of China released the group standard "Guidelines for Reliability Control and Quality Improvement of the Industrial Robot Industry Chain." An expert panel review concluded that this group standard fills the gap in domestic systematic reliability management standards for the entire industrial robot chain, providing a unified operational guideline for industrial quality upgrading.

Industrial robots are core equipment in intelligent manufacturing, widely used in sectors such as automotive and 3C electronics. In 2025, Guangdong Province's annual output of industrial robots reached 336,300 units, accounting for 43.5% of the national total, ranking first nationwide for six consecutive years. The province has formed a complete industrial chain covering core components, complete machine manufacturing, system integration, inspection and testing, and terminal applications, extensively empowering trillion-level manufacturing scenarios such as automotive manufacturing, 3C electronics, and warehousing logistics.

Current domestic industrial robot standards mostly focus on single product performance, individual reliability tests, or safety specifications, covering only isolated stages such as R&D pilot production and factory inspection, lacking systematic quality control standards that span the entire lifecycle from component supply, production and manufacturing, scenario application, to routine maintenance. To address this industry challenge, this group standard was jointly drafted by the Guangdong Product Quality Supervision and Inspection Institute, in collaboration with Bolangte Robot Co., Ltd., KUKA Robot (Guangdong) Co., Ltd., Guangzhou Ruison Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd., the Fifth Electronics Research Institute of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the National Center for Technology Innovation of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the Institute of Mechanical Manufacturing Technology of the China Academy of Engineering Physics, Foshan Huashu Robot Co., Ltd., Fangyuan Mark Certification Group Zhejiang Co., Ltd., and Guangzhou CNC Equipment Co., Ltd.

The standard is divided into seven chapters, with core content including: clarifying its applicability to reliability control and quality improvement activities for enterprises in the industrial robot industry chain; defining core terms such as industrial robot, reliability, industry chain, quality control, and quality improvement; establishing basic principles, product quality safety management systems, and reliability control methods; specifying implementation requirements for reliability control and quality improvement; outlining support and guarantee measures for standard implementation; and listing typical application scenarios and quality improvement plans.

Innovative highlights of this group standard include: covering the entire chain and full lifecycle, connecting component supply, R&D production, and on-site operation and maintenance to form a closed-loop quality management system; identifying six major industry-wide common quality defects, and customizing exclusive quality improvement plans for two core application scenarios—automotive manufacturing and 3C electronics; promoting technologies such as digital quality traceability and AI fault prediction to shift quality management from post-failure repair to pre-risk prevention; and basing technical requirements on field survey data from dozens of enterprises within the province, while being compatible with over 20 existing national standards.

The release and implementation of this standard will help unify industry quality management norms, address the issue of uneven product quality, and guide healthy market competition; drive upstream and downstream enterprises in the industry chain to simultaneously improve quality, strengthen quality control of core components, and stabilize the security of the industry chain supply chain; help reduce losses caused by failures, rework, and maintenance, achieving cost reduction and efficiency gains in production and operation; and improve the domestic industrial robot standard system, providing a Guangdong practice model for the high-quality development of the national robot industry. The expert panel review concluded that the standard fully incorporates years of R&D, manufacturing, and integrated application experience from Guangdong's industrial robot industry, refining and improving around pain points in industry chain reliability enhancement, featuring multiple innovations in systemization, scenario orientation, and digitalization, with scientifically sound and highly practical technical indicators.
