en.Wedoany.com Reported - July 14, 2026, DS Smith, in collaboration with Andritz, successfully started up a stock preparation line at its Porcari plant in Italy. Alessandro Romagnolo, DS Smith's project manager, stated that the startup of this line marks a significant milestone for the Porcari plant, fully reflecting the close cooperation between the two teams. The line has a design capacity of 1,650 tons per day, can process various waste paper grades, and stably produces high-quality packaging paper using 100% recycled fiber as raw material.

The line operates entirely on recycled fiber, targeting the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) and e-commerce sectors. The core equipment is Europe's largest FibreFlow drum pulper, which is also the 300th unit of the same model delivered globally by Andritz. This equipment ensures gentle pulping while efficiently removing coarse contaminants, guaranteeing operational stability and consistent fiber quality.
The system is also equipped with screens and LC light reject cleaners, maintaining high pulp quality and low energy consumption even when raw material conditions vary. The rejects handling system includes a shredder and a reject compactor for processing waste from pulping and coarse screening. Andritz's scope of supply also covers basic and detailed engineering design, installation supervision, commissioning, and operator training.
DS Smith is a leading global supplier of sustainable fiber-based packaging, with operations spanning recycling and papermaking, playing a core role in the value chains of e-commerce, FMCG, and industrial sectors.
