en.Wedoany.com Reported - Balfour Beatty Ground Engineering (BBGE), VSL Systems (UK) Ltd (VSL), and Bachy Soletanche (BSL) have jointly formed the Geotechnical Sub-Alliance (GSA) to undertake piling, soil mixing, diaphragm wall, and plastic cut-off wall works for the Sizewell C nuclear power project.
The GSA will create a stable and waterproof platform to support the immense loads from the construction of the new nuclear power station, including one of the world's largest land-based cranes. This sub-alliance is part of the Civil Works Alliance (CWA) for the Sizewell C project, which comprises Sizewell C Company, Balfour Beatty, Laing O'Rourke, and Bouygues Travaux Publics, and is responsible for the project's major civil engineering works.
Vincent Leblois, GSA Alliance Manager, stated that the GSA brings extensive global capabilities, industry expertise, and experience to the Sizewell C project. The team achieves unified outcomes on a "best-for-project" basis through joint decision-making, strong execution, and appointing the most suitable personnel. He also noted that, as part of the CWA, the GSA is laying the foundation for the UK's future energy infrastructure.
Jane Towse-Laval, Managing Director of Balfour Beatty Ground Engineering, added that through collaboration, the parties will integrate innovation, technical excellence, and collective expertise to lay the groundwork for the safe and efficient delivery of this nationally significant energy asset. Martin Bellamy, Managing Director of VSL UK, stated that integrating the expertise of VSL, BBGE, and Bachy Soletanche is about laying the foundation for a project that will support the UK's energy needs for generations to come. Dominic Lovelock, Executive Director of Bachy Soletanche, noted that each partner possesses proven capabilities in piling, ground treatment, and support structures. The integration of these capabilities will bring certainty in schedule and high quality to the Sizewell C project, delivered by a highly collaborative team.
