en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Key Laboratory of Green Pesticides and Modern Plant Protection Technology of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs was recently inaugurated in Huizhou, located at Huizhou Yinnong Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Yinnong Technology"). Experts including Chinese Academy of Engineering academician Qian Xuhong, Chinese Academy of Sciences academician Xia Haiping, China Agricultural University professor Wu Xuemin, along with over 200 guests from government, industry, academia, and research sectors attended the event. This marks the first time Yinnong Technology has received a key laboratory designation from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.

Chinese Academy of Sciences academician Xia Haiping noted that it is uncommon for a ministerial-level key laboratory to be established within an enterprise. This laboratory is one of the platforms under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs' agricultural science and technology innovation system and serves as a relevant carrier within the ministry's "15th Five-Year Plan" disciplinary cluster layout.

At the unveiling ceremony, Yinnong Technology Chairman Qian Xuanzhou recalled the company's founding background, stating that over twenty years ago, domestic pesticide products in China were mainly emulsifiable concentrates and wettable powders, many of which had issues of high toxicity and high residue, causing significant environmental impact. He expressed the desire at that time to establish a pesticide company whose products were "safe, efficient, and environmentally friendly."

The laboratory's first academic committee was also established, comprising 12 members: Qian Xuhong, Xia Haiping, Wu Xuemin, Fan Zhijin, Tan Chunyan, Wang Fengle, Yuan Huizhu, Li Zhenyu, Wang Lin, Huang Guizhen, Qian Xuanzhou, and Wu Zhengxian. The committee members include academicians from the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, university discipline leaders, research institute experts, agricultural technology extension professionals, and corporate technical leaders.

According to reports, the laboratory will focus on three directions: research and development of green pesticide formulations, green prevention and control of crop diseases and pests, and intelligent plant protection equipment. Its scope of work covers basic research, pilot-scale development, field demonstrations, and industrial transformation. Academicians Qian Xuhong and Xia Haiping, Professor Wu Xuemin, relevant leaders from Huizhou City, Chairman Qian Xuanzhou, and Dr. Liao Lian'an jointly unveiled the laboratory.

The academic report session was chaired by Professor Tan Chunyan from Tsinghua University's Shenzhen International Graduate School. In his report titled "From Transboundary Manufacturing to Transboundary Intelligent Manufacturing," Academician Qian Xuhong introduced that his team's "transboundary manufacturing" technology uses femtosecond lasers to process three-dimensional micro-nano channels inside glass, potentially integrating some factory functions onto a single glass plate. This technology has been applied in enterprises such as Shanghai Pharmaceuticals and Huayi Group, covering fine chemical fields including pharmaceuticals, pesticides, cosmetics, and fragrances. In response to questions, Qian Xuhong pointed out that existing production lines that have undergone digital transformation do not need large-scale upgrades, but processes involving combustion, explosion, highly toxic substances, or high added value could prioritize adopting the new technology.

In his report titled "Carbolong Chemistry," Academician Xia Haiping introduced the theoretical system of "Carbolong Chemistry" proposed by his team and its latest progress. A new molecule synthesized by the team features a single atomic nucleus shared by five carbon-metal bonds, reportedly setting a world record in the relevant field. Xia Haiping stated that previous research in this direction was mainly applied to tumor treatment, but this exchange has drawn his attention to the potential application of carbolong compounds in the creation of green pesticides, and both parties will explore future collaboration.

Professor Wu Xuemin's report, "Development Trends and New R&D Hotspots in China's Pesticide Formulations," cited data indicating that the global pesticide market size is approximately $70 to $80 billion, with China's annual pesticide usage around 250,000 tons, production exceeding 2 million tons, and formulation exports surpassing technical material exports. Wu Xuemin believes that China's pesticide industry is transitioning from volume expansion to quality improvement. The report also analyzed directions such as slow-release formulations, the application of deep eutectic solvents in pesticide formulations, and biopesticides. In response to questions from channel distributors, Wu Xuemin mentioned that in promoting green pesticide formulations through channels, practical issues such as enterprise standards for suspension concentrates, compatibility with drone aerial application, and compatibility when mixed with foliar fertilizers need attention.

Since its establishment over twenty years ago, Yinnong Technology has never produced emulsifiable concentrate or wettable powder pesticide products, embedding "safe, efficient, and environmentally friendly" into its product development direction. This choice has allowed the company to avoid the use of solvents such as toluene and xylene, aligning its product direction with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs' policy of promoting agricultural green transformation. In the laboratory's first academic committee, Yinnong Technology Chairman Qian Xuanzhou and General Manager Wu Zhengxian were both selected, with the laboratory's executive director being Dr. Liao Lian'an, Yinnong Technology's Chief R&D Scientist. Qian Xuanzhou stated that Yinnong Technology will use this newly approved national-level key laboratory as a platform to continue participating in work related to agricultural green development, agricultural product quality safety, and agricultural modernization.
