en.Wedoany.com Reported - German building materials company Schlüter-Systems has introduced the Schlüter-BEKOTEC-THERM hydronic underfloor heating system, designed for low-profile installation in new construction and renovation projects. By optimizing the construction approach, this system reduces the amount of mortar required compared to traditional underfloor heating systems. When used with ceramic floor tiles, this configuration allows for a mortar layer with a minimum thickness of 8 millimeters to be applied over the node board.

The system's panels integrate heating pipes to form a complete installation solution, aimed at shortening construction cycles. Compared to other underfloor heating systems, this structure saves up to 80 kilograms of mortar per square meter, a feature particularly important for projects with limited available height or restricted static load per unit area.
The system includes the Schlüter-DITRA decoupling membrane, which eliminates the need for lengthy drying periods before laying ceramic floor tiles. Once the mortar screed is walkable, the DITRA membrane can be installed, followed by the ceramic floor tiles.
Reducing the thickness of the mortar layer also facilitates faster installation of other types of floor coverings. This advantage is especially prominent in renovation projects, which often face constraints such as height limitations, tight schedules, or weight restrictions on existing structures.
In addition to reducing building height, the Schlüter-BEKOTEC-THERM operates based on a structure with heat conduction and storage capabilities, allowing it to function at lower supply water temperatures. A study by the Institute for Building Equipment Technology (ITG) shows that the BEKOTEC-THERM system can reduce energy consumption by up to 9.5% compared to traditional underfloor heating systems.
