en.Wedoany.com Reported - China CAMC Engineering Co., Ltd. recently signed a commercial contract with the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Nicaragua for the Bluefields Port Construction Project, with a total project amount of $94.85 million, equivalent to approximately 644 million yuan. Yan Hailu, Deputy General Manager of China CAMC Engineering, and Rosa Casti, Secretary General of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Nicaragua, signed the contract on behalf of both parties.

Located in the South Caribbean Coast Autonomous Region of Nicaragua, the project is divided into two phases. Phase I primarily involves the construction of a multi-purpose terminal capable of accommodating 50,000-ton vessels and related supporting works. Phase II includes supporting concrete roads, a bridge, and related transportation facilities and landscaping works. Upon completion, Bluefields Port will become the first large-scale deep-water port on Nicaragua's Atlantic coast with a 50,000-ton berth, and also the first comprehensive commercial port along Nicaragua's Atlantic coastline. This project will break the current reliance on the western Corinto Port for foreign trade, establishing a new "Pacific + Atlantic" dual-outlet pattern, further improving the local comprehensive transportation system, significantly enhancing foreign trade transport capacity, and injecting strong momentum into the high-quality socio-economic development of the region.
