en.Wedoany.com Reported - German rental company Kran Völkl has taken delivery of its second 150-ton Liebherr LTM 1150-5.3 all-terrain crane, which will join a same-model crane delivered in 2024 and a 50-ton LTC 1050-3.1 city all-terrain crane in service.

This five-axle LTM 1150-5.3 is equipped with a 66-meter seven-section main boom and a 10.8 to 19-meter double folding jib extension that can be hydraulically offset up to 40 degrees. A 7-meter insert can be added between the main boom head and the jib extension, achieving a maximum lifting height of nearly 95 meters and a maximum working radius of 72 meters. At a maximum gross weight of 60 tons, even with 9 tons of counterweight, a second winch, and a three-sheave hook block, there is still approximately 400 kg of margin—for which the company opted for aluminum alloy rims to reduce weight.

Kran Völkl Deputy General Manager Daniel Völkl Fischl stated that the company typically uses vehicles for eight years before reinvesting in new ones, and is very satisfied with the performance of the first LTM 1150-5.3, considering the investment fully worthwhile both technically and economically. Therefore, they opted for the same model with identical specifications.

Kran Völkl, headquartered in Straubing, Bavaria, northeast of Munich, was founded in 1932 by Hans Völkl as an auto repair shop. After moving to Straubing in 1945, it began a sideline in rescuing and towing damaged trucks. In 1952, Hans' son Rudolf joined the company as the second generation, and the company put its first truck-mounted crane into service in 1960, initially for its growing industrial business. Rudolf took over the crane and rescue operations in 1976 and began replacing lattice boom cranes with telescopic boom cranes. Currently, the family business is managed by the third generation, Rudolf Junior, operating a fleet of 13 units, including self-erecting tower cranes, truck-mounted cranes, all-terrain cranes, and city cranes, covering capacities from 40 to 500 tons, supported by 30 employees.
