en.Wedoany.com Reported - Aerotech showcased the new Laserturn 280 motion platform prototype in Germany at Fürth, designed for machinery manufacturers and medical product manufacturers seeking to increase throughput while maintaining consistent part quality. Market launch is scheduled for the second half of 2026, and the company has already exhibited initial prototypes at several medical technology trade shows, generating strong interest from professional audiences. Based on the proven "PRO280LM" linear worktable design, the Laserturn 280 is available in three configurations, equipped with ASR1400, ASR1100, and ACS150 rotary stage drives respectively. Depending on the configuration, the system can process tubes with diameters from 0.3 to 30 mm and offers various clamping system options, including collet chucks with so-called "dead zone length" (TF20, W12) and ER precision collet chucks (ER16, ER25, ER40).

The motion platform offers a linear travel of 300 mm and a maximum movement speed of 1000 mm/s. The dead zone length collet chuck minimizes axial movement of the tube, reducing the risk of splicing errors during feeding, which is particularly important when processing longer workpieces such as microtubes. The clamping mechanism is pneumatically driven and designed to operate with dry, oil-free nitrogen or compressed air. Aerotech states that the platform was developed in response to market demand, is easy to integrate into existing manufacturing environments, and enables higher throughput than previously possible.
In terms of precision, the Laserturn 280 achieves linear motion calibration accuracy of ±1 micrometer and rotary motion accuracy of ±30 microradians. Bidirectional repeatability is ±0.4 micrometers (linear) and ±15 microradians (rotary), respectively. The system uses ironless linear motors and non-contact optical encoders for drive, with a structural design that offers high rigidity and protects internal components from contamination, which is critical in wet cutting applications. The platform can be selected for dry or wet cutting, with an integrated fluid handling system in wet cutting mode.
To simplify system integration, the platform features an integrated cable management system and an open aperture for tube passage, with optional front and rear pneumatic grippers to support automated workpiece handling. Mounting is achieved via eight M8 fixing points. The design meets the requirements of medical technology manufacturing, helps achieve low tube waste and repeatable part quality, and supports machinery manufacturers in rapid entry into mass production.
